Springs made of high-tensile stainless steel

There are increasing demands from industry for a high-tensile, dynamic permanently resilient and, above all, reliable materials for springs, which should also be rustproof. It is not only modern diesel injection valves—which have to deliver ever higher pressures and cycle rates and are simultaneously loaded with fuels containing water and hydrogen—that require a better material for springs.

The high-tensile materials are sensitive and do not forgive any mistakes on their highly-stressed surface. The hard and super-elastic wires depend on absolutely perfect production, otherwise they break like glass! And what use is the best high-tensile chrome-silicon-vanadium steel if even the tiniest amount of rust film on its surface leads to cracks and fatigue fracture.

For the first time, Federntechnik Knörzer is using a new, crack-tested, super-pure high-tensile stainless steel on a large scale, which, in combination with our carefully developed, modern production technology, reliably and safely enables these fatigue- and rust-resistant springs.

 

Advantages of the new stainless steel
The Federntechnik Knörzer name is 1.4568RS. With this new material, we can manufacture 50% more precisely and it is 20% stronger than No. 1.4310 stainless steel. Moreover, it is at least 10 times safer than conventional 1.4568 stainless steel.

This material is part of the large No. 1.4568 family, short name X7CrNiAL17-7, EN 10270-3, but greatly surpasses it with its greater purity and homogeneity.

Our specific surface treatment also makes it easier to work with. And this is the only way to realise the above-mentioned advantages.
